This is an example of a digital story created by one of our grade 9 ELA students last year.  It is an amazing piece of writing and creativity and I just had to share it with you.  The students were asked by the teacher to write a story and then create a multimedia presentation of the story using MovieMaker.  After writing the story, they had to create a storyboard, find copyright free pictures, add audio using Audacity and then synchronize it altogther.  Once again, this is an example of a strong student’s work but the teacher reported that all students completed the assignment and enjoyed themselves in the process.  They had to include the elements of the story that they had been discussing in class such as a strong beginning, a problem, increasing tension, a climax and conclusion.  What a great way to learn about the elements of a story!  Once the projects were completed, the students posted their stories on their own Blogger blogs (notice I had to download the video to TeacherTube first before I could post it on my WordPress blog – are you listening WordPress designers??) and then other students had to give positive feedback about their stories.  The teacher also commented on the students’ digital stories on the individual blogs of the students.
