Mr. James,
Thanks for your comments. I was wondering if I should teach our teachers who are using blogs with their classes how to use RSS feeds so that they can manage them easier. Now I know it's well worth it. Thanks,

I live and die by Google Reader. The amount of information that pours in from around the world can become overwhelming, however. I like to use RSS to keep up with my students' blogs. Makes it real easy to monitor as well as participate in their blogosphere.

Thanks, Jo-Anne. Like you I really think RSS has so much potential for students and teachers and it is one of the main things I would introduce to staff, along with wikis and voicethreads. I have to admit that your graphic from the K12 online conference struck me because up until now I have been mostly using my google reader to track my blogs--I know I need to think outside that box and use my reader to keep track of lots of other things...but I haven't moved in that direction so much yet! Thanks for another interesting post!

Hi Jo-Anne,
I think stated it well by saying "using an RSS aggregator or reader is simply one of the most essential tools that people living and teaching in the 21st century need in order to cope with the inordinate amount of information that is available online today". I often catch myself opening up each blog (even after a couple months of using RSS) which would be considered an out-of-date approach to reading blogs. I too will continue to use my Google Reader account long after this course is finished.

Hi Jo-Anne
This is a great post on RSS. Lots of nice examples for sharing with teachers in a professional development session. I really like the idea of using the delicious feed as a first example for showing teachers/students just how easily RSS works!
Patricia
PS - have you come across http://favthumbs.com/
Another interesting way to use delicious bookmarks.
